Citizens can now report poll code violations via cVIGIL app in Jubilee Hills

Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has activated the cVIGIL mobile application for the Jubilee Hills by-election, allowing voters to report Model Code of Conduct violations in real time. The app promises a response time of under 100 minutes per complaint.

Designed as a technology-driven accountability tool, cVIGIL ensures confidential reporting. The app conceals the identities and phone numbers of users to protect whistleblowers.

cVIGIL app election violations reporting process explained

Using the app, citizens can report various violations such as distribution of cash, liquor, or gifts, unauthorised loudspeaker usage, hate speech, and illegal election rallies.

How to use the cVIGIL app:

  • Download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  • Turn on GPS and capture a photo or video of the violation.
  • The app auto-records date, time, and location.
  • Choose the type of violation from the dropdown list and submit.
  • ECI officials review the complaint immediately and initiate action within 100 minutes.
  • Users can also track complaint status directly in the app.

For those who prefer offline reporting, violations can also be reported by calling the ECI’s toll-free number: 1950.

District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan urged citizens to actively participate in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. He stressed that swift reporting through cVIGIL would help uphold free and fair elections.
