Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has asked senior officials to guarantee that every student passing SSC is supported to finish intermediate education without interruption.
During a review meeting at ICCC, the Chief Minister noted that while Class 10 pass rates were encouraging, a significant drop was visible by intermediate level. He asked for steps to identify and fix the reasons for this decline, stressing that intermediate education was a crucial turning point in a student’s life.
Revanth Reddy directed the education department to study models from other states where schooling continues seamlessly from Class 9 to 12, resulting in lower dropout rates. He sought a detailed report on introducing 12th class education at the school level in Telangana as well.
The Chief Minister instructed that suggestions from NGOs and civil society working in the education sector be collected through the Education Commission. He added that improving the quality of intermediate education should become a topic of open debate on various platforms, including discussion in the Assembly.
He underlined that attention should go beyond just admissions and cover regular attendance to keep students engaged.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the “Young India Residential School” model, instructing that a large national flag be installed on every campus. He ordered officials to speed up school construction works and submit weekly progress reports. Separate Young India Residential Schools for boys and girls will be set up in each Assembly constituency, he announced.
