Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday directed all district collectors to remain alert amid ongoing heavy rainfall across Telangana and to ensure swift coordination among departments to avoid disruption to public life.
Despite a 21% shortfall in rainfall since June, the Chief Minister noted a sharp increase over the past three days. In a video conference held from the Secretariat, he said 150 emergency teams had already been mobilised in Hyderabad, with additional units being deployed as per forecasts under the Command Control Room’s direction.
He asked senior officials from city Police Commissionerates to remain on-ground to manage traffic during peak rain periods. Special instructions were issued to officials in Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) regions to take disease-prevention measures, particularly in tribal habitations.
Revanth also directed health and veterinary departments to maintain staff presence at PHCs, hospitals, and ensure livestock safety. He asked collectors to conduct surprise inspections and field visits to assess preparedness.
On the issue of fertiliser stock, Revanth said urea availability was sufficient and warned of action against those hoarding or diverting stock. Retailers must display stock information clearly and ensure online tracking. “Some are deliberately creating an artificial shortage strict action will follow,” he said.
He also announced that ration card distribution will take place at mandal headquarters from July 25 to August 10, and instructed collectors to involve local MLAs and in-charge ministers in the process.
