Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said the State government is designing plans to guide Hyderabad’s development for the next 100 years, aiming to match global cities in quality of life and infrastructure.
Speaking after inaugurating the PJR Flyover at Gachibowli, Revanth Reddy highlighted that Hyderabad contributes 65 percent of Telangana’s revenue. He said Hyderabad is no longer in competition with Indian cities like Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, or Mumbai, but with global hubs such as New York, Tokyo, and Singapore.
He accused some individuals of creating hurdles in Hyderabad’s progress but stressed that his government would proceed with plans to develop the city to international standards.
Among the steps outlined, the Chief Minister announced plans to widen roads, build more underpasses and flyovers, and address pollution concerns by shifting diesel buses to districts and introducing 3,000 electric buses within Hyderabad. The ban on new auto rickshaws has also been lifted to permit electric and CNG autos.
Revanth Reddy mentioned the Telangana Rising 2047 programme, which aims to classify the state into Core Urban, Semi Urban, and Rural categories to ensure balanced development.
He also referred to the removal of the N Convention Center structure built in an FTL zone and acknowledged actor Nagarjuna for donating two acres and contributing to Hyderabad’s growth.
The event was attended by ministers Sridhar Babu and Ponnam Prabhakar, GHMC Mayor Gadwala Vijayalakshmi, CM Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Serilingampalli MLA Arekapudi Gandhi, Legislative Council Chief Whip Mahender Reddy, GHMC Commissioner Karnan, Special Secretary to the CM Ajith Reddy, among others.
