Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed state officials to carry out a full revamp of the Anganwadi system in Telangana, with the objective of making it a national model. He directed departments to ensure delivery of both nutrition and pre-primary education to children up to five years, enabling a smooth transition into government schools.

At a review meeting with senior officials and ministers Seethakka, Ponnam Prabhakar, and Laxman Kumar Adluri, Revanth called for immediate structural and operational reforms across the Women Development, Child Welfare, Disabled, Senior Citizens, and Transgender Empowerment departments.

The Chief Minister said new Anganwadi buildings must be built using modern technology, with the design tailored through container-based infrastructure suited to children’s needs. He proposed exploring solar-powered container centres with battery backup as a cost-effective alternative and advised officials to study existing container models before implementation.

He stressed the need to ensure every child at an Anganwadi centre receives nutritious food, and suggested using NGOs for support. He asked officials to examine the feasibility of increasing the supply of ‘Balamrutham Plus’ and consider Karnataka’s millet roti model after consulting nutritionists, involving women’s groups in distribution.

Revanth ordered formulation of a 100-day action plan covering delivery of nutrition, supervision and management at all Anganwadi centres. He emphasised coordination between Anganwadi workers and ASHA staff for care of pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children.

Officials were asked to explore options for enrolling orphans in Advanced Training Centres, in addition to existing admissions in polytechnic colleges. Revanth said a training agreement with centres in Singapore includes provisions for orphaned children from Telangana.

The Chief Minister also proposed deploying mobile Anganwadi centres in settlements and labour colonies along the Outer Ring Road to reach migrant children, with nutrition delivered on a scheduled basis using designated vehicles. He encouraged facilitating voluntary teaching support from retired professionals and IT employees.

He directed that Telangana Foods and Vijaya Dairy products be supplied to Anganwadi centres as part of the nutritional programme.

Revanth also instructed officials to draft welfare policies for children, women, persons with disabilities, and the elderly under the TelanganaRising2047 document. He asked for a report on marriage schemes and support programmes for disabled individuals to be submitted ahead of the next Cabinet meeting.
