HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed district collectors across Telangana to launch an extensive awareness campaign on the newly introduced Bhu Bharati portal, aimed at resolving land ownership issues permanently. The platform, developed after in-depth research, is projected as a comprehensive solution for farmers’ land records.
At a meeting held at the Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Institute on Monday, the Chief Minister urged collectors to attend meetings in every mandal and address farmers’ concerns in a clear and accessible manner. He emphasised the need to simplify the explanation of the Bhu Bharati portal’s functioning to ensure grassroots-level understanding.
The CM also issued key instructions regarding the implementation of the Indiramma housing scheme and measures to manage the drinking water supply during summer. Revanth Reddy highlighted the significance of the Bhu Bharati and Indiramma initiatives, calling them flagship schemes that require focused attention from the administration.
Bhu Bharati Pilot Meetings Across Districts
Reiterating the importance of the Bhu Bharati Act, the Chief Minister pointed out that previously, land disputes were often pushed to courts due to administrative apathy. The new framework, he said, places the responsibility on the Revenue Department to resolve such issues, and public awareness about the appeals process must be increased.
Pilot project meetings are scheduled to be held at Maddur in Narayanapet, Nelakondapalli in Khammam, Lingampeta in Kamareddy, and Venkatapur in Mulugu districts. Collectors are expected to attend these meetings at the mandal level, alongside revenue staff from each village. State Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and other cabinet ministers will also participate.
Special Officers for Indiramma Housing Monitoring
Regarding the Indiramma housing scheme, the Chief Minister stated that the list of beneficiaries must pass through mandal-level committees and receive final approval from the district’s in-charge minister. Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari has been instructed to appoint a Special Officer in each Assembly constituency to oversee the scheme’s implementation. These officers will serve as liaisons among various committees and the district administration.
Senior officials previously assigned to former district jurisdictions have also been asked to assist in monitoring the housing construction. Stressing transparency, the CM warned against any influence in the allocation process and announced that both mandal-level committees and special officers would be held accountable if houses were granted to ineligible individuals.
Each constituency has been allotted 3,500 houses, which should be distributed among villages proportionally based on population. Construction should follow a predefined timeline, with collectors closely supervising the process.
Summer Drinking Water Measures
With the onset of summer, Revanth Reddy instructed collectors to prioritise drinking water supply. He directed the Irrigation, Energy, and Drinking Water Departments to coordinate efforts. Collectors are to monitor water availability and supply in each village using a centralised dashboard.
He called for contingency plans to be prepared for areas without existing pipelines or household tap connections, and highlighted the need for special focus on tribal hamlets such as Koya Gudelu and Chenchu Pental. Existing funds have been released for installing pipelines, and for the repair of motors and borewells. Additional funds will be made available if needed.
Collectors have also been asked to report motor failures or other technical issues in Hyderabad and urban areas to the Chief Secretary immediately for swift resolution.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Konda Surekha, Ponnam Prabhakar, Jupalli Krishna Rao, Damodar Rajanarsimha, Chief Minister’s Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Government Advisors Kesava Rao and Shabbir Ali, alongside senior department officials and all district collectors.
