HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reaffirmed his government’s commitment to making the state the safest in India for cyber security. Speaking at the inaugural session of SHIELD-2025 on Tuesday, a cybersecurity summit, he stressed the importance of digital safety and preventive strategies against cyber threats.
Congratulating the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau, Cyberabad Police, and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council for organising the event, he acknowledged their efforts in strengthening the state’s cybersecurity framework. He noted that cybercriminals stole an estimated ₹22,812 crore across India last year, posing a significant threat to the economy and citizens.
CM Revanth Reddy also highlighted the growing menace of fake news on social media, stating that misinformation causes societal unrest. He assured that the Telangana government is collaborating with IT experts and companies to build a robust cybersecurity ecosystem, ensuring a secure business hub.
The Chief Minister urged people to share the national cybercrime helpline, 1930, available 24/7 for immediate assistance. He lauded Telangana’s dedicated Cyber Crime Bureau, one of the few fully functional units in the country, and highlighted the recent establishment of seven new cybercrime police stations.
Calling for collective action, he emphasised that Telangana should be a model state in cybercrime prevention, not just investigation. He warned against fake news campaigns and financial fraud, stressing the need for proactive measures to counter digital threats.
The event brought together cybersecurity experts, policymakers, and law enforcement officials to discuss strategies for making Telangana a cyber-safe state.
