HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy narrowly escaped a lift malfunction incident on Tuesday afternoon at the Novotel Hotel in Shamshabad, on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The mishap occurred while the Chief Minister was attending a Congress Legislative Party meeting organised at the hotel. As he boarded a lift to travel from the first floor to the second, the elevator abruptly stopped midway due to an overload.
The sudden halt caused concern among the Chief Minister’s security personnel, ministers, and MLAs present at the venue. The hotel staff and security team immediately swung into action. The lift doors were manually opened, and Revanth Reddy was safely escorted to the second floor using an alternate lift.
Reports suggest that the Chief Minister and other leaders inside the lift experienced moments of distress, with some reportedly struggling to breathe briefly. Hotel authorities later clarified that the lift had a capacity for eight individuals, but thirteen had boarded it at once, leading to the malfunction.
The incident caused temporary panic, but thanks to the swift response from security and hotel staff, a major mishap was averted.
