HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met with Scheduled Caste (SC) associations and emphasized the significant role played by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in resolving the long-standing issue of SC reservation classification.
“Your gratitude should not be limited to me alone; it must also reach our leader Rahul Gandhi,” CM Revanth Reddy stated. “Without Rahul Gandhi, I would not have gained the power to implement a permanent solution to the classification issue.”
To prevent legal complications in the future, the Telangana government established a One-Man Commission, which submitted a 199-page report. Based on this report, SCs have now been classified into three groups for reservation purposes. “This decision is not against anyone,” he clarified. “Our government’s sole intention is to ensure justice for SC communities through proper classification.”
Revanth Reddy recalled previous struggles in the Assembly. “When we demanded a resolution for classification back then, we were suspended from the House. But now, within the first year of our government, we have resolved an issue that remained unsolved for ten years.”
He stressed the legal efforts undertaken to secure a favorable Supreme Court ruling on classification. “No state in the country, including BJP-ruled states, has implemented the Supreme Court’s ruling on this matter. However, we have initiated the process.”
The Chief Minister further added, “We aimed to resolve the legal complications surrounding SC rights, and today, we have achieved it.”
Highlighting key appointments made under his administration, he said, “For the first time in 100 years, a Madiga leader, Kumar, has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University. Similarly, Professor Qasim has been made the Principal of Arts College.”
Revanth Reddy reiterated that his government has given special importance to the Madiga community in various institutions such as the Higher Education Council, Public Service Commission, and Education Commission.
“This is a great opportunity,” he urged. “If we make the most of this, more opportunities will follow in the future. This should benefit not just individuals but the entire community.”
“I am here as your representative in power. My only goal is to work for your welfare,” he assured the SC leaders. “Use this opportunity wisely and work with a calm mind instead of acting in haste.”
