Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday inaugurated six new Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) across Hyderabad, including a 212.50 MLD facility in Amberpet. He also laid the foundation stone for 39 additional STPs, collectively worth ₹3,849.10 crore.
The Amberpet STP, constructed with ₹319.43 crore, will serve the Amberpet and Uppal constituencies. After the inauguration, Revanth Reddy visited the site along with Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, senior officials, and elected representatives.
In addition to Amberpet, five more STPs were opened:
- Attapur in Rajendranagar (64 MLD, ₹109.24 crore)
- Mullakathuva in Kukatpally (25 MLD, ₹44.46 crore)
- Shivalaya Nagar in Quthbullapur (14 MLD, ₹34.13 crore)
- Vennelagadda in Quthbullapur (10 MLD, ₹13 crore)
- Palapitta in Serilingampally (7 MLD, ₹18.97 crore)
CM lays foundation for 39 new STPs to enhance sewage treatment
Revanth Reddy said the new STPs would significantly boost Hyderabad’s sewage treatment capacity. Importantly, they will help protect the city’s lakes and water bodies from untreated waste.
The 39 upcoming STPs are part of three packages:
- Package 1 includes 16 STPs, budgeted at ₹1,878.55 crore
- Package 2 includes 22 STPs, with ₹1,906.44 crore allocated
- One STP will follow the PPP model, costing ₹64.11 crore

According to the Chief Minister, these efforts align with the state’s commitment to improve sanitation, reduce pollution, and modernise urban infrastructure. He emphasised that proactive planning is key to preparing Hyderabad for future environmental challenges.
