Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday asserted that he never used power for personal gain and pledged to dedicate his tenure to public welfare and state development.
Speaking at the release of “Hasitha Bhashpalu”, a book by noted Telangana poet Ande Sri, the Chief Minister said Telangana people had reposed faith in his leadership by giving him a strong mandate. “I will use this opportunity to develop Telangana. My goal is to make the state a $3 trillion economy by 2047 and place it firmly on the world map,” he said.
‘Victory is the answer to adversaries’
Reddy said he never considered anyone his enemy, nor used power against his critics. “My victory itself is a befitting answer to political adversaries and made them kneel before Telangana Talli,” he remarked.
He criticised leaders who had enriched themselves in the name of Telangana activism, pointing out that some even owned TV channels and newspapers. “Real activists never boasted of themselves,” he said. Revanth recalled his political journey, noting he entered politics in 2006 and rose to become Chief Minister within 17 years.
Criticism of past governance
The Chief Minister took aim at the previous BRS government for spending on palatial buildings, which he said were not indicators of real growth. “True development lies in uplifting the self-respect of low-income groups,” he said. He highlighted welfare measures such as the construction of 4 lakh Indiramma houses and the supply of fine rice to families to ensure dignity in society.
Tribute to Telangana’s literary spirit
Reddy hailed Telangana as a land of poets and writers who inspired generations. He said it was a proud moment for the state that Ande Sri, who hails from Palamuru, had penned “Jaya Jaya He Telangana,” a song that echoed at the Miss World contest attended by 109 countries. He also recalled the contributions of poets Guda Anjaiah, Gaddar, and Goreti Venkanna, who, he said, always fought for people’s freedom and dignity.
