Hyderabad: A bizarre coconut theft shocked residents of Banjara Hills, one of Hyderabad’s most upscale areas. The incident occurred on Road No. 14, where a thief in an auto stole coconuts from a roadside cart late at night.
According to CCTV footage, vendors had left coconuts on their carts, covered with tarpaulins, before going home. Around midnight, a thief arrived in an auto, removed the cover, loaded the coconuts, and fled.
Coconut theft leaves vendors frustrated
When vendors returned in the morning, they were shocked to find the coconuts missing. CCTV review revealed the theft. Locals said similar thefts occurred twice earlier, though no police complaint has been filed yet.
The video of the coconut theft went viral on social media. Residents expressed concern that such incidents hurt poor vendors who depend on daily sales. Locals urged police to act strictly against such petty crimes.
