HYDERABAD: Congress MLA Vemula Veeresham has stated that the Telangana state was achieved due to the efforts of the Congress party. He criticized the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government, alleging that corruption flourished under its rule.
He claimed that a thousand people controlled wealth worth ₹20 lakh crore during the BRS tenure. He accused the government of facilitating such wealth accumulation by a select few.
Speaking about Hyderabad’s real estate sector, Veeresham stated that rumors were being spread that the market had collapsed. He alleged that BRS granted permissions indiscriminately for commissions, leading to irregularities in urban development.
The MLA further criticized BRS for neglecting South Telangana, stating that the region turned into a desert under its rule. He claimed that not a single major project was completed in the area. Additionally, he said that BRS had no genuine commitment to farmers’ welfare.
He pointed out that crucial irrigation projects, including the construction of Brahmana Vellamla, Dharmareddy, and Pillai Palli canals, remained incomplete.
Addressing environmental concerns, Veeresham highlighted the significance of the Musi River for the people of Nalgonda. He claimed that pollution in the river had severely impacted local residents. However, he assured that the Congress government was taking necessary measures to free the region from Musi River pollution.
He also mentioned that the Telangana government had initiated special measures for Scheduled Caste (SC) categorization. Despite financial challenges, the Congress government was committed to implementing its six guarantees. He concluded by stating that ₹20,000 crore worth of farmers’ loans had been waived.
