Hyderabad: Congress foot march entered day two in Andole padayatra with TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud lauding the Revanth Reddy government’s initiatives and attacking BRS leaders over jobs, debt, and water rights.
Padayatras part of Congress DNA
Goud said padayatras remain central to Congress tradition from Gandhi to Rahul. He argued they matter more while in power, as they enable real-time connection with the public.
He thanked voters for restoring Congress and replacing what he called “feudal rule” with people-first governance. “With your blessings, Revanth Reddy became Chief Minister,” he told the crowd.
He said the march helps convey public voices directly to the Chief Minister. He pointed to the implementation of six guarantees and 42% BC reservations as proof of Congress’s commitment.
“In ten years of BRS, not one martyr’s family got a job. In just 11 months, we’ve delivered 65,000 jobs. Another 35,000 are coming,” he said.
He highlighted the fine rice scheme, claiming Telangana leads the country in subsidised grain distribution. “Who imagined the poor eating the rice of the rich?” he said.
Congress, he said, had approved 40 lakh new ration cards, covering over 3 crore citizens.
Goud accused BRS of wrecking public hospitals while promoting private care. He said the Congress government is now modernising both health and education sectors.
He criticised BRS MLA Harish Rao for spreading falsehoods and questioned his role in the Banakacharla project. “If it needed KCR’s signature, what exactly did Harish do?” he asked.
He warned of risks to Telangana’s water share and pledged not to lose a single drop. “Revanth’s government is reversing the concessions KCR mortgaged,” he said.
Goud said KCR’s mismanagement left Telangana in debt. “We’re paying interest on his sins,” he said. He accused KCR of retreating to a farmhouse while lying to the people.
He mocked Kavitha for claiming credit over BC quotas. “She was in jail when we fought for 42% reservation. Now she doesn’t know which party she belongs to,” he said.
He dismissed BRS criticism as hollow. “Those who change colours like chameleons can’t lecture us on loyalty,” he said.
