Hyderabad: The Congress party, through its national handle @INCIndia, hailed the Telangana government’s decision to lower the disability eligibility threshold for free equipment from 80% to 40%. The party described the move as part of its steadfast approach towards social justice, saying it would allow more residents to receive essential assistive devices.
According to officials, the revised criteria will enable thousands of additional beneficiaries to access mobility aids, hearing devices, and other support tools at no cost. The initiative reflects the state government’s pledge to extend welfare measures to a wider section of persons with disabilities.

Telangana disability aid policy linked to Gandhi’s principle of justice
In a video message, the party cited Mahatma Gandhi’s belief that “the first condition of non-violence is justice all around in every department of life.” Leaders said the decision would help ensure dignity and equal opportunity for those living with disabilities, in line with the Congress government’s social welfare agenda.
