Hyderabad: The Congress party concluded the first leg of its Janahita Padayatra – Shramadanam on Sunday, with plans to begin a Delhi-bound agitation from tomorrow. The march, spearheaded by Telangana PCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud, started from Parigi in Ranga Reddy district and ended in Khanapur, Adilabad.
The padayatra passed through the undivided districts of Ranga Reddy, Medak, Nizamabad, and Adilabad over four days. Public participation surged throughout the route, with Congress cadres reporting strong local engagement.
TPCC chief Goud was joined by AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, along with district ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, DCC presidents, and other senior TPCC functionaries. Leaders used the march to explain state government welfare schemes and mobilise rural volunteers through community service activities.
Congress cadres reported an enthusiastic reception at every stage. The leadership credited this to the public’s positive reaction to the Revanth Reddy government’s 18-month track record on welfare delivery.
Notably, the party’s rank and file—across factions—rallied together in coordination throughout the march. Observers within the party cited this show of unity, free of internal rivalries, as a key takeaway from the first leg. The TPCC chief’s efforts to consolidate leaders and cadre under one banner appear to have borne fruit.
