Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Tuesday said the Congress candidate would secure a decisive majority in the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election. He added that the party expected to achieve nearly 85 percent success in the local body polls.
Speaking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, Goud attacked former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, accusing him of pushing Telangana into a debt trap. He said the present Congress government was working to repay the heavy obligations left behind by the BRS administration.
He alleged that the state’s financial difficulties were a direct result of KCR’s policies. “The people now view the BRS leaders’ debt-related campaigns with amusement,” he remarked, adding that the hardships under the previous regime had even driven some citizens to suicide.
Goud also accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of maintaining a covert alliance. “Both parties coexisted comfortably for ten years, and even today, they remain aligned,” he said.
