Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud on Monday accused former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s family of large-scale corruption in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. He demanded immediate action by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Goud alleged that the dispute within the BRS first family was over the internal distribution of illicit gains. He pointed to the Justice P.C. Ghose Commission’s findings, which confirmed irregularities in the planning and execution of the project.
Congress claims BJP shielding BRS despite past criticism
Goud stated that both KCR and former minister Harish Rao were found responsible for project failures and financial wrongdoing. He noted that although the BJP had once labeled the Kaleshwaram project as “KCR’s ATM,” the party was now protecting the BRS leadership by slowing the pace of investigation.
He warned that any delay in the CBI probe would expose what he called a “tacit understanding” between BJP and BRS.
The state government has formally transferred the case to the CBI based on the commission’s report. Congress leaders have said they will continue pressing for accountability and legal action.
