Hyderabad: The Congress party faced a major setback in Jubilee Hills after police filed a criminal case against party leader Naveen Yadav. Jubilee Hills election officer Rajinikanth Reddy lodged a complaint at Madhura Nagar Police Station.

Officials said Naveen Yadav distributed voter ID cards while the election code of conduct was in force. The Election Commission treated the act as an attempt to influence voters and asked the police to act.
Madhura Nagar Police registered the case under Sections 170, 171, and 174 of the Indian Penal Code. They also invoked provisions of the Representation of the People Act. Sources said the Election Commission directed officials to handle all violations firmly.
