HYDERABAD: Congress ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Konda Surekha held a crucial meeting with Backward Classes (BC) MLAs ahead of the Telangana Assembly session.
The meeting was attended by government whips Aadi Srinivas and Birla Ilaiya, along with MLAs Vakiti Srihari, Prakash Goud, Eerlapalli Shankarayya, and Makkan Singh Raj Thakur.
During the discussion, the ministers and MLAs strategised on ensuring smooth passage of a historic bill set to be introduced in the Assembly today. The bill proposes increasing BC reservations in local bodies, education, and employment to 42%. The attendees decided to seek support from all political parties for the bill’s successful approval.
Once the bill is passed, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, along with Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka and other ministers, plans to reach out to national political leaders. The aim is to garner wider support for the reservation increase at the national level.
