Hyderabad: Five Congress MLAs from the undivided Warangal district have asked the party to make a clear choice between them and Minister Konda Surekha and her husband Konda Murali. The demand was placed before AICC state in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan amid escalating tensions between the couple and local legislators.
MLAs Naini Rajender Reddy, Revuri Prakash Reddy, Gandra Satyanarayana, Nagaraju, and Kadiyam Srihari, along with MLC Baswaraju Saraiah, district Congress president Errabelli Swarna, and KUDA chairman Venkataram Reddy, met Natarajan at her office in the MLA Quarters in Hyderabad on Sunday. They submitted a written complaint detailing alleged unilateral interference and disruptive behaviour by the Konda couple across constituencies in the district.
The legislators claimed the couple were openly making derogatory remarks, even against senior state leaders, damaging the party’s image. Natarajan reportedly told the delegation that she was aware of the issue and that a disciplinary committee would be constituted to investigate.
She instructed the leaders to raise such disputes only within party forums and warned against public statements. Following her advice, the MLAs declined to speak to the media. Natarajan later held discussions with PCC disciplinary committee chairman Mallu Ravi and directed an inquiry into the intra-party rift in Warangal.
She also sought district-wise data on constituencies facing factional troubles and warned party officials to take disciplinary action where necessary to prevent further reputational harm.
Separately, at a Panchayati Raj Organisation state executive meeting chaired by Rachamalla Siddeshwar at Gandhi Bhavan, Natarajan stressed the need for united efforts in the upcoming local body elections. The meeting was attended by national organisation president Sunil Panwar and others. Natarajan noted that the party’s organisational arms would play a critical role in the polls.
