KAMAREDDY: Senior Congress leaders urged graduate voters on Monday to back MLC candidate V. Narender Reddy in the upcoming elections. They assured voters that he would stand by them and address their concerns effectively.
At a Graduate MLC voters’ meeting at Satya Convention Hall, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Excise and Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir, MP Suresh Shetkar, and MLAs Lakshmi Kantha Rao and Madan Mohan Rao highlighted the need for a dedicated and committed representative.
Mohammed Ali Shabbir reminded voters that the Congress government came to power due to the struggles of unemployed youth. He emphasized that the election is a direct contest between Congress and BJP, asserting that only Congress has created employment opportunities.
Criticizing the previous BRS government, he accused it of failing to provide even 50,000 jobs in a decade. In contrast, Congress created 56,000 jobs in just nine months. He also assured voters that the fee reimbursement scheme would soon be implemented to support students.
Shabbir further attacked the BJP-led central government, pointing out that zero funds were allocated to Telangana in the Union Budget.
Backing Narender Reddy, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao highlighted his long-standing experience in the education sector. He reminded voters that Congress had made the bold decision to grant Telangana statehood, despite political losses in Andhra Pradesh.
He accused the BJP of ignoring Telangana’s demand for statehood while creating three other states. Additionally, he alleged that BRS has a secret pact with BJP, evident from its decision not to contest the MLC elections, which indirectly benefits BJP.
TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud attacked both BJP and BRS for misleading voters. He accused BRS of failing to deliver on employment and transforming “Bangaru Telangana” into a family-run system.
Goud also criticized BJP for deceiving youth with false promises of two crore jobs per year but failing to deliver. Addressing Telangana’s financial mismanagement, he revealed that while 16 previous Chief Ministers borrowed ₹65,000 crore collectively, KCR’s government alone took loans of ₹7.5 lakh crore in a decade. As a result, the Congress government now pays ₹6,500 crore per month in interest.
He further accused BRS of neglecting the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, which Congress has now resumed.
Goud criticized BJP MPs and Union Ministers from Telangana for failing to secure funds for the state. He urged graduate voters to hold BJP leaders accountable for their inaction.
Reaffirming Congress’s commitment to Backward Classes (BCs), he noted that the party appointed a BC leader as TPCC president and conducted a caste survey. He announced that Congress would ensure 42% BC reservation in local bodies and introduce laws to protect their employment opportunities.
The Congress government, Goud said, aims to strengthen healthcare services across Primary Health Centers (PHCs) to NIMS hospitals. Additionally, plans are underway to establish 57 Integrated Model Schools across Telangana, ensuring corporate-level education in every constituency.
Goud cautioned voters against BRS’s misinformation campaigns on social media. He accused them of spreading false narratives to mislead people.
He also criticized the BJP for exploiting religious sentiments for electoral gains. He pointed out that BJP has repeatedly used Lord Ram’s name for political benefits in 2014, 2019, and now in 2024.
Congress leaders urged graduate voters to support Narender Reddy, promising that he would be a strong advocate for their grievances and rights.
