Hyderabad: Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy on Wednesday said the Congress party offered him a ministerial berth if he agreed to contest from LB Nagar in the 2023 Assembly elections, but he rejected the proposal outright.
Speaking at a ration card distribution event in Munugode mandal, Rajagopal Reddy said he turned down the offer to remain with his constituency, prioritising the interests of Munugode over political advancement.
He said the Congress leadership had approached him with the promise of a cabinet post tied to a shift in constituency, but he insisted on recontesting from Munugode, citing public support in the region. He also recalled that while key Congress leaders were defeated in the 2018 polls, he secured a win from Munugode with strong voter backing.
Rajagopal Reddy further claimed that it was not the Bharat Rashtra Samithi that defeated him in the Munugode bypoll, but the Communist Party.
He was interacting with residents during a government programme where new ration cards were distributed in Munugode mandal.
