Hyderabad: All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge for Andhra Pradesh, Manickam Tagore, criticised YSR Congress Party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for supporting the NDA’s Vice President candidate, alleging betrayal of democratic values and submission to political pressure.
In a post on social media platform X, Tagore said history would not forget Jagan’s “betrayal” in backing a candidate supported by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He accused Jagan of prioritising fear of CBI cases over the interests of Andhra Pradesh.
Jagan NDA Vice President support triggers Congress backlash
Tagore claimed the decision was not a political strategy but a surrender to pressure from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and TDP leader N. Chandrababu Naidu. He said this move exposed Jagan’s unwillingness to align with democratic forces.
“Jagan will be remembered not as a fighter but as someone who auctioned his mandate out of fear of criminal cases,” he wrote. He also criticised the conditional bail granted to YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy in the liquor case, which allowed him to cast his vote in the Vice Presidential election.
In another post, Tagore targeted Jagan for siding with BJP-RSS in Delhi while neglecting farmers in Andhra Pradesh, who are reportedly struggling due to fertilizer shortages. He alleged that Jagan was avoiding opposition to BJP-RSS despite the state’s agrarian crisis.
History won’t forget Mr @ysjagan’s betrayal.
By supporting an RSS-backed candidate for Vice President, he has chosen fear of CBI cases over the interests of Andhra Pradesh. This is not about strategy.
This is about surrender—surrendering to Modi–Babu’s pressure, instead of…— Manickam Tagore .B🇮🇳மாணிக்கம் தாகூர்.ப (@manickamtagore) September 9, 2025
