Congress demands action over US deportation of Indians

Congress Protests in Telangana Against US Deportation of Indian Immigrants

Hyderabad, February 7: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has called for protests across Telangana today, condemning the deportation of Indian immigrants from the United States. The party alleged that US authorities treated the deported individuals inhumanely and criticised the central government for failing to protect them.

On 5th February, a C-17 US military aircraft transported 105 Indian immigrants from Texas to Amritsar Airport. Reports indicate that around 18,000 Indians are residing illegally in the US, and recent enforcement actions have resulted in their deportation.

The AICC has raised concerns over reports that US police shackled the deported individuals, treating them as criminals. They accused the Indian government of failing to respond appropriately to the situation and not taking steps to ensure their safety and dignity.

In protest, the AICC has organised demonstrations in all district centres across Telangana. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud has urged Congress members to mobilise support and demand action from the central government to protect Indian immigrants facing deportation.
