Congress whips slam K Kavitha’s BC quota hunger strike as ‘drama’

Hyderabad: Telangana Government Whips Adi Srinivas and Beerla Illaiah dismissed BRS MLC K Kavitha’s planned BC quota hunger strike as political theatre, accusing her of “diversionary tactics” and lacking the courage to confront the BJP.

In a video statement released on Tuesday, Srinivas questioned Kavitha’s authority to stage the protest and challenged her to take the issue to Delhi. “If you really care about BCs, take your brother (KTR) and fight the BJP government,” he said, calling her actions a “drama to deflect attention.”

He said the Congress-led state government had already passed a bill and sent an ordinance to the Governor, proving its commitment to securing reservations for Backward Classes.

Beerla Illaiah echoed the attack, calling Kavitha’s protest ironic given what he described as the BRS government’s decade-long neglect of BC communities. “Revanth Reddy is ready to fast in Delhi for BC rights. Let Kavitha do the same if she’s sincere,” he said.

Both whips dismissed her protest as hollow, saying “Kalvakuntla dramas” no longer influence public opinion in Telangana.
