Hyderabad: The Congress party secured one seat in the Mother Dairy director elections held on Saturday for the Nalgonda-Ranga Reddy Milk Producers’ Cooperative Society. BRS-backed candidates won the remaining two director posts in polling conducted at the SV Convention Center in Hayathnagar.
Congress MLA’s strategy yields mixed results
Congress leader and Nakirekal MLA Vemula Veeresham succeeded in securing a win for party-backed candidate Karnati Jayashree, who polled 176 votes. However, the strategy of Aleru MLA and Government Whip Beerla Ailaiah failed, with Congress-supported candidates Gantla Radhika and others losing the contest.
In a post-election remark, MLA Mandula Samuel demanded that Beerla Ailaiah take moral responsibility and resign if the BRS candidate secured a win — which two of them did.
Final results reflect party split
The winning candidates were:
- Karnati Jayashree (Congress) – 176 votes
- Rachcha Lakshmi Narasimha Reddy (BRS) – 154 votes
- Sandila Bhaskar Goud (BRS) – 240 votes
The losing candidates included:
- Manchala Praveen Reddy – 9 votes
- Peddireddy Bhaskar Reddy – 16 votes
- Gantla Radhika (Congress/Chamala supporter) – 55 votes
The newly elected directors will assume office on October 1.
