Hyderabad: A police constable arrested last week in connection with a trafficking case involving the sale of two tribal girls has been dismissed from service. The termination order for Kameri Haridas was issued late Thursday by Superintendent of Police Kantilal Patil.
Haridas was among eight persons taken into custody after the police dismantled a trafficking network on June 20. The group included five women.
Investigators said the accused admitted during questioning that two tribal girls from the district had been sold to buyers linked to a sex trafficking operation in Madhya Pradesh. One of the victims was allegedly sold for ₹1.30 lakh, the other for ₹1.10 lakh.
Departmental records show Haridas had previously faced criminal charges in 2019 for a similar offence involving the sale of a tribal girl in Madhya Pradesh. He was suspended from service at the time.
