Constable murdered during probe in Nizamabad, officials condemn public apathy

Hyderabad: CCS constable Pramod was brutally murdered in Nizamabad during the course of a case investigation, prompting outrage from senior police officials over bystander apathy.

Nizamabad Police Commissioner Sai Chaitanya called the killing “deeply disturbing” and condemned those who recorded videos and took photographs instead of intervening. “It is painful that people around behaved as if nothing was happening while the constable was bleeding,” he said. “A fellow human being was in distress, yet no one acted. This reflects a worrying trend in our society.”

Pramod was attacked with a knife by the accused while carrying out his duties. Witnesses on the spot chose to film the incident rather than stop the assailant or help the injured officer.

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Sajjanar also expressed shock at the public’s indifference. “It is heartbreaking to think we live in a society where people cannot help someone in need. The constable was being stabbed on the road, and yet, people stood by taking videos,” he stated. Sajjanar offered condolences to Pramod’s family and paid tribute to the fallen officer.

Commissioner Sai Chaitanya assured that full support would be extended to the constable’s family, stating that the department stands firmly with them.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading to the attack.
