Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police seized large quantities of fake electrical cables during a raid in the Jambagh area.
The raids conducted on Saturday (May 24), led to the arrest of one Ratan Singh, the proprietor of the premises. An FIR has been filed, and officials confirmed that further investigations are underway to trace the supply chain and other potential suspects.
Among the seized goods were duplicate versions of branded Finolex cables, a widely used name in electrical wiring. Authorities stated that the raid was part of an ongoing campaign to eliminate counterfeit products from the market.
Officials warned that such fake cables not only infringe on intellectual property rights but also pose grave risks to consumer safety, including potential electrical failures and fire hazards. “The counterfeit electrical cables are not just commercial crimes; they threaten public safety,” an officer involved in the raid said.
The police have intensified surveillance across markets known for selling hardware and electrical materials, signalling more such crackdowns in the near future.
