Hyderabad: Fourteen people were arrested in a surprise ganja bust near the HDFC Bank in Gachibowli, including a couple who showed up with their four-year-old son.
The raid, carried out as part of a covert surveillance operation, netted a mixed group: four IT professionals, a student, a property manager, a travel agency owner, and seven others who were allegedly trying to buy marijuana.
According to investigators, the accused used the WhatsApp code “Bhai, bachha aagaya bhai” to communicate during transactions.
The couple reportedly brought their minor child along during the purchase. Police said all 14 were taken into custody within two hours during the operation. Multiple arrests were made at the scene as buyers arrived in sequence.
The crackdown forms part of an ongoing initiative to counter drug trade in high-traffic commercial areas of the city.
