Hyderabad: The Communist Party of India on Monday condemned the attempted shoe attack on Chief Justice of India Justice B.R. Gavai, calling it a direct insult to constitutional institutions and a threat to judicial independence.
CPI Control Commission chairman Dr. K. Narayana said the incident, in which a lawyer hurled a shoe at the CJI in the Supreme Court premises, was not a random act. He described it as a reflection of rising intolerance allegedly promoted by right-wing forces inspired by RSS ideology.
CPI condemns shoe attack as attack on Constitution
Dr. Narayana stated that assaulting judges amounts to attacking the Constitution itself. He demanded a detailed investigation to uncover any motive or organizational links behind the act. He also called for strict punishment under both criminal and contempt of court laws.
He appealed to socialist and democratic forces to stand united in defending constitutional values and to resist the growing politics of hatred and intimidation.
