Hyderabad: The Communist Party of India has demanded the immediate withdrawal of Government Order 282, which permits commercial establishments in Telangana to mandate 10-hour work shifts, calling it a rollback of hard-won labour protections.
CPI Telangana secretary and legislator Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said the order undermines decades of struggle by workers’ unions. He extended full party support to the July 9 national strike called by central trade unions against what he termed the Centre’s anti-labour, anti-farmer, and anti-people agenda.
He urged all CPI workers in the state to join the strike in force.
Separately, CPI national executive member Chada Venkat Reddy condemned the recent industrial mishap at the Sigachi facility in Pashamylaram, Sangareddy, calling for an impartial investigation by state authorities into the incident.
