Hyderabad: CPI national secretary K. Narayana accused the BJP government of undermining constitutional institutions and centralising power. He alleged that even Rashtrapati Bhavan now acts on instructions from the Prime Minister’s Office.
CPI leader criticises BJP and Amit Shah
Speaking on the second day of CPI’s fourth state conference at Gajularamaram in Medchal district on Thursday, Narayana said the BJP had weakened independent bodies like the CBI, Enforcement Directorate, NITI Aayog, and the judiciary. He criticised the party’s move to legislate the disqualification of legislators jailed for 30 days. He demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s position be annulled first, noting that Shah had served two years in prison earlier.
CPI backs BC quota demand, warns Congress in Telangana
Narayana declared CPI’s support for the Backwards Classes’ demand of 42 per cent reservations. He clarified that while the CPI continues its alliance with Congress in Telangana, it will oppose any anti-people policies of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government.
Call for inclusion of transgender persons
The CPI leader urged the party to grant membership to transgender persons and take up their issues more actively. CPI national secretary Aziz Pasha and MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao also attended the session.
