Hyderabad: Communist Party of India national secretary K. Narayana on Tuesday demanded a detailed Parliament debate on the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and the conduct of Operation Sindoor, blaming central government negligence for the incident.
Speaking during his visit to Pahalgam along with CPI leader Syed Aziz Pasha, Narayana released a video from the site, pointing out the heavy military presence in the region. “There’s an army camp every 200 yards here. How could terrorists open fire so freely in such a zone?” he asked.
Calling the Pahalgam attack a result of security failure, Narayana said the government had not addressed key doubts surrounding Operation Sindoor. “There are many unanswered questions. They must be cleared,” he said, demanding open discussion in Parliament on what actually happened.
He criticised the Centre for dispatching MPs abroad while avoiding debate at home. “Is this a sightseeing trip?” he asked, adding that Pakistan was making claims about downing Indian jets and denying India’s surgical strikes, while the Indian side insists on a successful operation. “Let Parliament discuss it. Only then will people believe it,” he said.
Narayana said the situation in Pahalgam had become one of intense fear and criticised the government for failing to maintain confidence in security systems.
