Hyderabad: CPI national secretary K Narayana launched a sharp attack on the BJP on Monday, accusing the Telangana Governor of acting like a party worker. Speaking to the media in Delhi, he expressed anger over the Union government’s decision to officially celebrate September 17 as Telangana Liberation Day.
Narayana alleged that BJP leaders distorted the history of September 17 and misled people. He stressed that only communists fought the armed struggle against the Razakars, risking their lives for Telangana.
CPI leader Narayana BJP criticism over September 17
The CPI leader said the Governor echoed every statement made by state BJP leaders. He mocked the party for making noise only around September 17 every year. He declared that the communists alone had a history of standing with the people and leading struggles.
Narayana pointed out that both the CPI and RSS were formed in 1925. However, he said not a single RSS worker took part in India’s freedom struggle. “The British never lathi-charged or fired bullets at RSS men, but 4,500 communists laid down their lives for freedom,” he said.
He demanded that BJP leaders stop spreading false claims about September 17 and recognise the sacrifices made by communists.
