Hyderabad: CPI leader and MLC Nellikanti Satyam on Tuesday asked what role the BJP had in the Telangana peasant armed struggle. He argued that the party did not even exist when the movement began.
Satyam attended the Telangana Peasant Armed Struggle week in Sansthan Narayanpur, Yadadri Bhongir district, along with CPI district secretary Yanala Damodar Reddy.

Before addressing the gathering, the leaders garlanded memorial pillars of Bommagani Dharmabiksham, Doddi Komuraiah, and veteran fighter Edla Ashaiah.
According to Satyam, the Rachakonda region still reflects the legacy of the struggle. Every hill and tree in the area recalls its memory.
He explained that the struggle opposed landlords but also continued after Independence as a demand for real democracy. In his words, it marked a daring chapter of history.
Sacrifices of peasant fighters, he said, reduced exploitation in rural areas. Their fight still inspires current movements for the rights of the people with low-income.
Among those present were Bachchanagoni Gallaiah, Kurimiddi Srinivas, Dubbaka Bhaskar, Chiliveru Anjayya, Kalakonda Sanjeev, and Desidi Narender Reddy. Several local committee members also participated.
