Hyderabad: Police seized crackers worth ₹45 lakh from an illegal storage unit in Tirumalgherry, Secunderabad, during a joint operation by the Commissioner’s Task Force (North Zone) and Tirumalgherry Police on 11 October 2025.
Acting on a tip-off, officials raided a godown beside Durga Agency in Teachers Colony and arrested 54-year-old Abhimanyu Kumar Sharma. He had stocked large quantities of explosive firecrackers without a valid licence. Since the unit was located in a congested residential area, it posed serious safety risks.

During the raid, police found 250 cartons of branded firecrackers, including Zameen Chakra, Red Bijili, Laxmi Bomb and Flower Pots. Sharma failed to produce any legal documents for the consignment.
According to the police, he had knowingly stored explosive materials in violation of safety norms, creating a potential fire hazard that could have endangered lives and property nearby. Consequently, the police booked him under Cr. No. 258/2025. The case falls under Sections 288, 125 and 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 9B(1)(b) of the Explosives Act, 1884.
Inspector K. Chandra Shekar of the North Zone Task Force and Inspector C. Naga Raju of Tirumalgherry Police Station led the operation, assisted by SIs P. Gnanadeep and D. Karunakar and other personnel.
