Hyderabad: Director General and Commissioner of Police, C.V. Anand, IPS, on Wednesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art child care centre at the CAR Headquarters in Petlaburj, Hyderabad. Designed for children of police personnel, the ₹5 crore facility was constructed with CSR support from Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL).
The newly opened G+1 building spans 15,000 sq. ft. and can accommodate 150 to 200 children aged 0 to 5 years. Commissioner Anand noted that the facility will especially benefit women police officers who spend long hours in field operations. He said the crèche will reduce stress and logistical challenges for working mothers by allowing them to bring their children to duty premises.
Crèche offers food, medical care, play zones, and surveillance
The child care centre includes a special kitchen to serve nutritious meals, indoor and outdoor play areas, swings, feeding rooms, medical facilities, and a dormitory for pregnant personnel. Trained staff will provide full-time supervision, supported by CCTV monitoring.
Anand emphasized that any Hyderabad City Police employee, regardless of gender, may enroll their children. MEIL will provide the necessary staff for operations. He expressed gratitude to MEIL Foundation and Director Smt. Pamireddy Ramareddy for their generous contribution.
“This is one of the largest welfare initiatives in my 34-year police career,” Anand said. “It sets a new standard for employee support.”
MEIL Foundation calls project its most meaningful CSR work
Dr. Ravi Reddy, representing the MEIL Foundation, said this initiative is among their most significant. “Serving the Hyderabad police and their families brings us immense satisfaction,” he said, echoing sentiments shared by MEIL Director Smt. Pamireddy Ramareddy.
