Hyderabad: With cyber crime cases on the rise, Hyderabad police have urged citizens particularly students and young people to remain alert and cautious against online fraud.

Kushaiguda Police Station Inspector Bhaskar Reddy issued the advisory during a cyber crime awareness programme held at Chakri Puram under Charlapally division. The event was organised jointly by the Chakri Puram Welfare Association and the local police.

Reddy advised victims of online scams to report incidents immediately to the cyber crime cell so that the perpetrators’ bank accounts can be frozen and investigated swiftly.

He stressed that timely reporting improves the chances of identifying and apprehending fraudsters. To prevent crime and improve community safety, he also recommended installation of CCTV cameras in residential colonies and urged residents to cooperate with police.
