HYDERABAD: Cyber criminals from Madhya Pradesh were arrested for making a nude video call to Nakirekal MLA Vemula Veeresham and attempting to extort money by threatening to release the recorded video on social media.
Incident Overview
Approximately a week ago, cyber criminals targeted Nakirekal MLA Vemula Veeresham by making a nude video call. Moments after he answered, the perpetrators recorded the screen and subsequently sent the video back to the MLA, demanding money and threatening to make the video viral on social media if their demands were not met.
MLA’s Prompt Action
In response to the threat, MLA Vemula Veeresham promptly filed a complaint with the Nakirekal police, detailing the nude video call incident and the extortion attempt.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Upon receiving the complaint, the Nakirekal police registered a case and intensified their investigation. By tracing the origin of the call, they identified the location and, with the assistance of the Madhya Pradesh police, arrested the suspects. The accused were brought to the state earlier today and are currently in police custody.
