According to police, the fraudsters contacted the victim on Telegram on September 15. They offered commissions for giving ratings to branded products and asked her to invest ₹5,000 initially. Shortly after, the scammers credited ₹12,000 to her account to gain her trust. Believing the offer was genuine, the IT professional continued investing, eventually losing ₹54 lakh.

The victim filed a complaint with the Patancheru Police Station after realising the fraud. The police have registered a case and started an investigation. Officers also urged the public to stay alert against similar scams, especially those involving social media and online task-based schemes.
