Hyderabad: Cyberabad police arrested six members of an interstate dacoit gang involved in the armed robbery at Khazana Jewellers in Chandanagar earlier this month. The gang had looted 10 kilograms of silver articles after opening fire and injuring the deputy manager.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty while addressing a press conference on Saturday said, the incident took place on August 12, when six unidentified armed men stormed the jewellery store, shot at the deputy manager’s left knee, and fled with valuables. A case was registered at Chandanagar Police Station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
On August 15, police arrested two suspects, Aashish Kumar Singh and Deepak Kumar Sah, in Pune and Hyderabad. During questioning, both admitted their involvement, which eventually led investigators to about 900 grams of stolen silver. On August 19, two more accused, Anish Kumar Singh and Prince Kumar Rajak, were apprehended in Pimpri, Pune, leading to the seizure of 1,015 grams of stolen silver and a country-made firearm.

The remaining prime accused, Prince Kumar Bharati and Rohit Kumar Rajak alias Rohit Baitha, were nabbed on August 22 in Ankleshwar, Gujarat. Police said they are habitual offenders with criminal histories in Bihar, including cases of armed robbery, attempt to murder, and violations of the Arms Act.
Investigators added that the two prime accused admitted to concealing a weapon and part of the stolen jewellery, which will be recovered during custody. Efforts are underway to trace three more gang members and recover the remaining property.
Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Avinash Mohanty said the arrests were made through joint efforts of the Special Operations Team, CCS, and Chandanagar police. He advised jewellery shop owners to strengthen security measures, install intrusion alarms, and coordinate closely with local police to prevent such incidents.
