Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty, IPS, on Wednesday held a coordination meeting with officials from several departments to finalise arrangements for Ganesh festival celebrations, set for August 27 to September 6.
The review, held at Cyberabad Police HQ, included Jt. CP (Traffic) Dr. Gajarao Bhupal, IPS, senior police officers, GHMC, R&B, HMWS&SB, Fire Services, Revenue, Transport, RTA, and Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) members.
Safety and Crowd Management
Mohanty asked officers to ensure strict safety measures at all immersion points. He ordered installation of streetlights, floodlights, cranes, barricades, drinking water kiosks, mobile toilets, medical aid centres and tents for devotees. He told each police station to collect details of Ganesh pandal committees and coordinate with electricity officials to avoid outages or accidents.
Law and Order
The Commissioner warned against fake news on social media and said strict action would follow against violators. He also stressed women’s safety, quick Dial 100 response, extensive CCTV use and visible policing.
Traffic Plan
Traffic Jt. CP Dr. Bhupal called for an advance traffic plan. He said deployment of police personnel, cranes, swimmers and CCTV must be done in a planned way to ensure smooth processions and vehicle movement.
Civic Works
GHMC Zonal Commissioner (Serilingampally) Hemanth, IAS, directed officials to finish road repairs, sanitation and power supply works before the festival. He urged citizens to cooperate and use the facilities.
Responsible Celebrations
BGUS General Secretary Dr. Shashidhar appealed to devotees to maintain cleanliness and follow eco-friendly practices during and after the celebrations.
