Hyderabad: Hyderabad cybercrime police registered a fresh FIR against BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Friday, following a complaint filed by Congress MLC Balmoor Venkat. The complaint alleged that KTR’s recent comments about Chief Minister Revanth Reddy were derogatory and capable of disturbing public order.
Balmoor approached CCS police seeking action. Based on his complaint, police booked a case under relevant sections.
This FIR adds to the legal issues already surrounding KTR in connection with the Formula E case. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has served multiple notices. The latest summons directed him to appear on June 16. An earlier notice was sent on May 28. In response, KTR informed officials that he was abroad in the UK and USA and would cooperate after returning.
In January, ACB issued three separate notices in the same case. On January 6, KTR went to the office with his lawyer. Officials declined to proceed while legal counsel was present. KTR submitted a written reply outside.
The next day, he was called again for questioning on January 7, but he did not appear, stating the matter was already before the High Court. A third notice followed for January 9. KTR appeared and was questioned on 82 points during a session lasting over seven hours.
On January 16, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) also questioned him for more than eight hours. Sources said KTR was asked over 40 questions during the session.
