HYDERABAD: Cybercriminals impersonating officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) defrauded Rajapet Tahsildar Damodar of Rs 3.3 lakh in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. The fraudsters contacted Damodar, alleging that he was involved in significant corruption and threatened him with arrest if he failed to comply with their demands.
Fearing legal consequences, Damodar transferred the amount online in multiple installments. However, after realizing he had been deceived, he approached the Rachakonda Cyber Crime Police and lodged a complaint.
Based on his complaint, the police registered a case and have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the fraudsters. Officials have urged the public to remain cautious and verify such calls before responding to any financial demands.
