Damodar Rajanarasimha defends Basti Dawakhanas, slams BRS for political smear

Hyderabad: Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Wednesday accused BRS leaders of launching politically motivated attacks on the state’s public health system. He specifically defended the Basti Dawakhanas, calling them a pillar of urban healthcare delivery.

Speaking in response to comments made by K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao, the minister said Basti Dawakhanas currently treat around 45,000 patients daily. According to him, all essential medicines are available, and 134 diagnostic tests are offered free through diagnostic hubs.

“Test reports are delivered within 24 hours,” he said, highlighting the system’s efficiency.

Basti Dawakhanas Telangana: Minister asserts strong public trust

Damodar noted that improved services at Basti Dawakhanas had reduced pressure on major hospitals like Gandhi and Osmania. He accused certain political leaders of deliberately spreading misinformation to promote private healthcare providers.

“It is unfortunate that public representatives are undermining confidence in government hospitals for political gain,” he said. “People clearly see efforts to divert patients to private clinics for profit.”

He added that such false narratives would not weaken the morale of government doctors or healthcare staff. “These conspiracies will not succeed,” he declared. “We are focused on further strengthening Basti Dawakhanas.”

Government stands firm on public healthcare

The minister assured that the state remains committed to improving public medical services, despite political distractions. Moreover, he warned that those trying to damage public trust would face a backlash from citizens.

“Our doctors and teams are delivering consistent, reliable care,” he said. “The public will deliver the right verdict at the right time.”
