Hyderabad: Congress MLA from Khairatabad Danam Nagender on Monday predicted a Congress victory in the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election and criticised BJP’s internal dynamics and leadership choices.
Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan, Nagender said the BJP had failed to resolve its own issues and had ignored BC leaders’ aspirations while selecting its Telangana state president. “Despite several BC leaders lobbying, the post was handed to an OC,” he said.
He advised BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao to accept Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s challenge instead of distorting it. He also questioned Union Minister Kishan Reddy’s track record in Secunderabad, asking what had been delivered to the constituency. “The Turmeric Board is just in name. There’s not even an office,” he remarked.
Nagender said ministerial appointments were a matter for the party high command and expressed confidence that Congress would retain Jubilee Hills.
Later on Monday, the MLA is set to travel to Delhi to meet senior AICC leaders. Sources indicated he plans to lobby for a berth in the cabinet during the pending expansion. While three ministers have been appointed recently, the remaining positions are expected to be filled soon, with demands growing from BC and SC leaders for greater representation.
The Congress leadership is still finalising its picks, and state leaders are closely watching how the balance will be struck in the next round of appointments.
