Hyderabad: With Dasara falling on October 2, families across Telangana are making early travel plans to return to their hometowns. As usual, trains remain the top choice for long-distance travel, pushing Dasara train bookings into high demand weeks in advance.
Many passengers have targeted the last week of September, especially the 28th to 30th, for their outbound journeys. However, reservations on key routes are already nearing full capacity. Waitlists have crossed into triple digits on several services.
Dasara train bookings full for key dates; long waitlists from September 28
On September 28, the Falaknuma Express—connecting Secunderabad to Kolkata via Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Bhubaneswar—is already in the waitlist phase. For dates from September 23 to 30, the train shows “Regret” status, meaning no availability.
A similar rush is seen for the express train from Charlapalli to Silchar via Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kharagpur, and Guwahati. For September 27, this too has entered Regret status.
Other major trains, including the Konark, Visakha, Visakha LTT, Pune–Bhubaneswar, Narayanadri, and Sabari Express, are showing heavy waitlists. Travelers from Hyderabad, Warangal, and Vijayawada are scrambling for alternate dates or adjusting travel routes.
Despite the planning, most are being forced to compromise on either the departure date or the train choice due to overwhelming demand during the Dasara train bookings window.
