Hyderabad: An older man finally regained possession of his flat in Muradnagar after his daughter blocked his entry, despite a standing order from the district administration. The incident took place under the Asifnagar police station limits on Thursday.
Daughter blocks father despite the collector’s order
Syed Ahmed Ali, a Muradnagar resident, has three daughters and has distributed his property equally among them. After the partition, his younger daughter, Isra Ahmed, allegedly neglected him. Citing the Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, he complained to the district collectorate several months ago and also moved the High Court.
In 2023, the collector Anudeep directed the daughter to provide shelter to her father. On Wednesday, Ahmed Ali complained again to current collector Harichandan, saying his daughter continued to deny him entry. Acting on this, Harichandan instructed local tahsildar Jyothi to vacate the flat occupied by Isra Ahmed and hand it over to him.
Police intervention ends the standoff
On Thursday afternoon, Tahsildar Jyothi accompanied Ahmed Ali to the Muradnagar apartment. The daughter locked the door and engaged in a heated argument, refusing to let her father in. The standoff lasted from 3 pm to 6 pm, with the daughter staging high drama at the entrance.
The tahsildar then called the Asifnagar police for support. Officers broke open the lock and handed over the house to Ahmed Ali in the presence of revenue officials. Later, Ahmed Ali thanked the authorities for enforcing the order.
